In its natural habitat, Leptusoermum madidum subsp. sativum is distributed in sandstone gorges and along watercourses. The play is slow-growing. It withstands wet sites and most types of soils and also drought-tolerant when established. Propagate by seeds. Stem and branch cuttings are typically difficult to root. Seeds are dispersed mechanically, resulted from dehiscent mechanism (the fruit is dried out that expels the seeds).
